- Dedicated 240V circuit sized to the tub's nameplate (usually 40 or 50 amp)
- GFCI-protected disconnect within sight of the tub but at least 5 feet away
- Equipotential bonding of the tub, all metal within 5 feet, and the equipment pad
- Permit and inspection — always
Common Mistakes
Plugging a 240V tub into an extension cord (never allowed), skipping the bonding grid (creates a shock hazard), and running wire directly buried without conduit at the required depth.
